Requirements
Commanders are encouraged to seek out their strongest performers with exceptional potential, motivating them to complete college degrees and be commissioned through AFROTC. RegAF and SF personnel are discharged from active duty and enlisted in the AFR-Obligated Reserve Section to accept the scholarships and enroll in AFROTC. Air Force ROTC cadets must complete all of their bachelor’s degree and commissioning requirements within four years. The time spent in school does not count toward total time in service. Upon graduation and completion of the program, SOAR cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants and return to active duty for four years of service.
